Dear staff, students and supporters We are communicating with you because we value the health and well-being of our students, staff, and families. Please take note of the following important advice from the Markfield Institute and support links to help in preventing the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
1. Dr. Muhammad Waqar Raza, a leading Consultant Microbiologist & Virologist, will be delivering a presentation on Monday 16 March between 4 – 5 pm at Markfield. His presentation will cover the history of Coronavirus in humans, how it can be transmitted, the possible scenarios, preventative measures, how Islamic teachings and practices can help us to contain, and what impact it may have on the Islamic duties such as collective prayers, Hajj, etc.
2. Our students should notify the Senior Administrator at the earliest opportunity via email (students@mihe.ac.uk) if they have been exposed to the virus or show any symptoms (if confirmed by the national online Coronavirus Service – dial 111 or see https://111.nhs.uk/service/covid-19, or by their GP) or have been asked to self-isolate. Staff with symptoms of infection should inform the HR and Finance Officer (finance@mihe.ac.uk)
3. For advice on Coronavirus or if you have been travelling and are concerned you may have coronavirus then use the 111 online coronavirus service to find out what to do next.
4. According to the latest Public Health England advice: Travellers who returned from Italy on or after 9 March 2020 should go home or to your destination and then self-isolate immediately, even if you are not showing symptoms, and use the 111 online coronavirus service to find out what to do next.
