The Islamic Studies programme aims to develop a critical and analytical approach to the study of Islam and to provide a greater insight into the sources and origins of Islamic thought, in particular the Qur'an and Sunnah together with a knowledge and understanding of the life of the Prophet Muhammad and its contemporary significance. Students are able to choose to study for one of the following:
- Postgraduate Certificate which focuses on the study of Islamic Sources and the Life of the Prophet Muhammad, together with an additional module to attain 60 credit points.
- Postgraduate Diploma which builds on these modules and allows students to study a choice of modules to attain 120 credits.
- MA Degree which requires research into a specialist area of the student's choice and submission of a dissertation of between 15,000 and 18,000 words.
