Newman University Vice-Chancellor Prof Scott Davidson Visits Markfield Institute

The Markfield Institute of Higher Education was greatly honoured on Thursday 11th May to host Professor Scott Davidson (fourth from the left), who began his tenure as Vice-Chancellor of Newman University a few months ago, in February 2017. Newman University validates the BA and MA degrees offered by MIHE, and Professor Davidson’s visit continues a tradition of warm relations between the University and the Institute which began in 2014.

Professor Davidson met with the Principal of the Institute, Dr Zahid Parvez, along with academic staff and some of the Institute’s Directors. He was also given a tour of the campus, library, and the Markfield Mosque by Dr Ataullah Siddiqui, Reader in Religious Pluralism and Inter-Faith Relations at the Institute.

Prior to joining Newman, Professor Davidson served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lincoln, and before that, served in a number of leadership roles at several universities and law schools in the UK and New Zealand.

Professor Davidson has degrees in law from the University of Cambridge and the University of Canterbury. He is a prolific scholar, having written or co-authored thirteen books and over sixty articles focusing mainly on international law, human rights, the law of the sea and European law. The Institute's staff and students were delighted to meet with him, and look forward to many more years of fruitful cooperation with Newman University.
