The Sagacity of the Teacher and the Desideratum for their Nurturing By Dr Imran Hussain Khan Suddahazai

On Monday 4th December, Dr Imran Suddahazai gave a public lecture at the Markfield Institute. He presented his research on the above topic. His work indicated that great teachers who have had an impact on society in some way have all imbued a range of wisdom based teaching approaches, which transformed their followers to act for the greater good of society.

It is, therefore, imperative that a ‘teacher education programme’ devised for students from traditional Islamic institutions, should expose them to the extant research covering a wide range of pedagogical approaches and leadership skills required to effectively teach and help their students develop their latent potentialities.
