Islamophobia and Education: Lessons from the Birmingham Trojan Horse Affair

Professor John Holmwood, from the School of Sociology and Social Policy at the University of Nottingham, gave a lecture to MIHE students on Thursday 1st of November 2018. His topic was “The Truth about the Birmingham Trojan Horse Affair”, in which he presented his findings on the Trojan horse saga why the case collapsed.

Prof. John Holmwood was member of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. He is co-founder and joint editor of Discover Society, a free online magazine of social research, policy analysis and commentary. He was an expert witness for the defence in cases brought against senior teachers at Park View Educational Trust and is co-author (with Therese O’Toole) of Countering Extremism in British Schools?
