Muslims Don't Matter - Baroness Sayeeda Warsi
Event details
Winner of the Muslim World Book Award 2025
Baroness Sayeeda Warsi is a lawyer, politician, and racial justice campaigner. In 2007, she was appointed to the House of Lords and became its youngest member. In 2010 Baroness Warsi became Britain’s first Muslim Cabinet Minister , Conservative Party Chairman, and in 2012 Senior Minister at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Minister for Faith and Communities.
In this public lecture, Baroness Warsi explores the far-right violence that broke out in the summer of 2024, as well as the hatred directed at Muslims in public life during the Gaza conflict. She argues anti-Muslim racism is dangerously out-of-control. Fed by a network of media outlets, think tanks, commentators, and even the entertainment industry, Islamophobia not only passes the dinner table test but is also Britain's bigotry blind spot. For too many, Muslims Don't Matter.
