Biography

Dr Anees Lodhi is both an intellectual historian and social anthropologist, having studied for an MPhil at the University of Cambridge on South Asian migration before completing his thesis at SOAS under Prof Hugh Kennedy on the concept of Migration/Hijra in Muslim thought. Fluent in the languages of both South Asia and the Middle East, his current research is on the history of migration in the region, along with the anthropological study of oppression, ethnic identity, knowledge production, and genealogies of the past.
