MIHE’s PhD student, Mohammad Abdullah, was examined on Wednesday, 14 March 2018, and is congratulated on successfully passing his PhD viva examination. The title of his thesis is: “Analysing the Jurisprudence of Waqf and its Implications vis-á-vis English Trust.”
Professor Ron Geaves (Visiting Professor at the Centre for the Study of Islam in the UK, based in Cardiff University’s Department of History, Archaeology and Religion) delivered his lecture at the Markfield Institute on Wednesday 7th March 2018 on Learning from History: Islam in Britain.
On Monday 26th February 2018, Dr Mahmood Chandia, Senior Lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire, delivered his thought provoking lecture on Technology and Leadership.
On Wednesday 21st February 2018, Prof Jorgen Nielsen,from the University of Birmingham, delivered a lecture at the Markfield Institute on Contemporary trends in European Islam. He provided a comprehensive overview of the way Islam is perceived has been changing in many European societies.
Dr Lars Gule, Associate Professor, Oslo Metropolitan University visited the Markfield Institute of Higher Education on Wednesday 7th February 2018. He delievered a thought provoking seminar on “Respect” and “tolerance”.
On Tuesday 9th January 2018, the Institute's Internal Research Conference was held. This provided a bright start to 2018 with a range of interesting papers delivered by members of academic staff, illustrative of the Institute’s vibrant research culture.
This course has helped me to appreciate the synergy and differences between Islamic and conventional finance.
Studying the MEd course has been a life-changing experience for me. It has transformed the way I think about how I educate Islamically.
The MA in Islamic Studies was thoroughly enjoyable! My understanding of Islam was both enhanced and strengthened through this course.
